Members of Lewis County Rural Electric Cooperative can purchase “Green Power”

Green power is electricity generated from renewable sources including wind turbines and the burning of renewable fuels like agriculture crop residue, switch grass or even walnut hulls. Electricity from renewable sources is more expensive to generate than power from coal fired power plants, the predominate source of electricity for Missouri’s electric cooperatives.

Members who choose to buy blocks of renewable energy to supplement their regular energy
needs will pay
$2.00 per block of
100 kwh’s in addition
to their existing rate.

The blocks of 100 kilowatts are sold on an annual basis and members who wish to purchase them must sign a 12 month contract. If you wish to cancel at the end of the contract, you must contact us or the contract will be continued. Only those members who contract to buy renewable energy will be charged more.
